According to Avon Foundation for Women, the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer New York, on October 15 and 16, raised more than $8.4 million to advance access to care and support finding a cure for breast cancer. “The Walk attracted 3,500 participants from 42 states, Washington, D.C., and six countries–including Bermuda, Canada, Cayman Islands, Denmark and Switzerland–along with 430 men and 444 breast cancer survivors,” reads a statement from the Foundation. For a more skeptical take on breast cancer awareness month, National Breast Cancer Coalition President Fran Visco writes “Why I’m Not Celebrating Breast Cancer Awarness Month.”
