Niroja ArulananthanNiroja Arulananthan is a first-generation Canadian. She has held a variety of roles in public and private sectors that range from policy development, communications, as well as project management. Niroja holds a BA in English and Sociology, and MA in Adult Education.

Devashri Bhujbal is an Indian journalist currently pursuing her master’s at Columbia Journalism School. Born and raised in Mumbai, she has worked as a reporter at four English newspapers covering transportation and politics. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in English from Mumbai University. After graduating from Columbia, she wishes to work as a journalist for international media companies.

Duojiao “Dolores” Chang, born and raised in Beijing China, is a Columbia Journalism School student who is interested in telling stories across cultural borders. She graduated from Boston University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and East Asian studies. Her recent work has appeared in BU News Service, BrooklineTab, and People’s Magazine China. She also loves plants.

Pooja Dantewadia is a graduate student at Columbia Journalism School. Previously, she worked as a developer, data journalist and visualizer at Mint (HT Media), CNN-News18 and IndiaSpend in India. She has pitched and produced hundreds of data stories and interactive graphics.

Natalie Demaree is a Columbia Journalism School graduate student from Bentonville, Arkansas. She graduated from the University of Arkansas in 2021 with a bachelor’s in journalism and political science. After graduation, she worked for two arts institutions in her hometown. She’s interested in covering religion, culture and social justice issues.

Audrey Gibbs, a graduate student at Columbia Journalism School, was born and raised in Davidson, North Carolina. She graduated from Sewanee: The University of the South in 2022, where she majored in English and minored in Shakespeare studies and politics. Audrey has interned for Ms. Magazine and American Songwriter.

Juanita Gordon is a student at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. She graduated from Hamilton College in 2021, where she majored in Geosciences and minored in Africana Studies. In August 2022, Juanita completed a service year through AmeriCorps where she worked as a Visual Design Coordinator in New Orleans.

Lai Jiang, born and raised in China, is a graduate student at Columbia Journalism School. She graduated from Emerson College, where she worked for the school’s TV station. In summer 2021, she interned at China Daily. Jiang is interested in reporting on international affairs. 





Kevin Lind is an M.S. candidate at Columbia Journalism School. He has an M.A. in English and Philosophy from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. For 13 years, he worked in hospitality where he managed high-end restaurants and resorts.

Devin Sean Martin is from Boston, Massachusetts, but spent the last three years in Dublin, Ireland, studying journalism in college. While overseas, Devin wrote about Irish business, entrepreneurship and European economics. He is primarily interested in business and economics reporting for print publications.




Miho Ouyou, born in Tokyo and raised in California, is currently a graduate student at Columbia Journalism School. She earned her bachelor’s degree in economics with a minor in East Asian Studies from Emory University at the age of 20. She is a member of an international economics honor society, Omicron Delta Epsilon, and the national honor society Phi Beta Kappa. Miho’s interests include reporting, business journalism, data science and international law. 



Anvita Patwardhan, born and raised in the California Bay Area,  is an alumna of the University of California in Berkeley, where she received her B.A. degree in English. As a reporter, her interests are longform narrative print journalism and data journalism.





Nikita Vashisth is a Columbia Journalism School graduate from Bangalore, India. She’s worked as an editor, fact-checker, and data journalist for various Indian news organizations including Newschecker, Mongabay-India and CNN-News18, covering misinformation, environment, and politics. She’s also a postgraduate of the Computational Journalism program at Cardiff University, Wales.

Jess Wade, born and raised in Australia, is a graduate student at Columbia Journalism School. In 2022, she graduated from RMIT University with a major in business and a minor in marketing. She has experience across print, radio and television and is interested in travel and human-interest stories.

Luwa Yin, originally from China, is a graduate student at Columbia Journalism School. She graduated from Boston University where she studied journalism and psychology. She loves feature writing and is passionate about arts and culture. Her stories have appeared in GBH News, The Boston Globe and the Boston University News Service.




Nora Zaim-Sassi is a graduate student at Columbia Journalism School. In 2022, she graduated from Boston College, where she majored in international studies with a concentration in ethics and social justice, and minored in journalism and Hispanic studies. Nora is a fluent Arabic, English and Spanish speaker who seeks to mobilize change through strong storytelling.
